Three Ingredient Guacamole

Guacamole is great scooped up with tortilla chips and it is also amazing with tacos, fajitas and more. This recipe is simple to make with only three ingredients and tastes so good!

Our family loves Mexican cuisine. Every two or three weeks it seems that we have a big Mexican feast with many dishes including tacos or fajitas, fresh salsa, guacamole, fiesta salad, etc. Guacamole makes an appearance every single time we have Mexican food and it is usually the first bowl to be emptied.

Even though it has only a few ingredients, in no way is this guacamole missing anything. Instead, it is honest, authentic and highlights the wonderful flavour and creaminess of the avocados. Make this anytime you cook Mexican and everyone will be happy you did!

Ingredient Notes

Since I make guacamole so frequently and also when I am also making many other dishes, my recipe for guacamole has evolved into something far simpler and more rustic. This guacamole has only three ingredients and can be made in less that 5 minutes.

  • Avocado – make sure to use avocado that ripe. The best way to test ripeness is to hold the avocado and gently press your thumb slightly into the fruit. If the skin give inward and feels slightly soft, it is the best way to tell that the avocado is rip and ready to use.
  • Tomato – I love the flavour that chunks of tomato brings to my guacamole.
  • Lime Juice – the juice of the lime adds a couple of benefits. First, the tang and flavour that the lime juice brings to the guacamole is so delicious. But, on top of that, the acidity helps the avocado from browning from the oxygen.

Can You Add More Ingredients?

This recipe is delicious as just a three ingredient guacamole, but it is also amazing as a base and foundation to add more to your guacamole. Sometimes I throw in some other stuff into my guacamole including fresh cilantro (this is so good in guac!), garlic, onion, scallions, jalapeno, and salt.

How To Make Guacamole

Making this guacamole is super simple. First, scoop out the flesh of the avocado into a bowl. Use a potato masher or fork and mash the avocado until it is smooth and creamy. It is okay if there are some small chunks in the guac.

Next, squeeze the juice out of the lime all over the avocado and stir it into the guacamole. Finally, dice the tomato into small chunks and mix it into the guacamole. Serve it immediately with a bowl of tortilla chips or use with tacos, fajitas and more.

More Mexican Condiment Recipes!

Sometimes when I make guacamole for a party or gathering, it can be nice to have one or more additional bowls of a condiment to scoop up with some tortilla chips. Here are a few recipes of other salsas and other Mexican styled condiments.

  • Pico de Gallo – Basically a fresh salsa, pico is made with tomatoes, onions, lime juice and cilantro and is amazing added to tacos, fajitas and more.
  • Salsa Verde – I love this salsa made with tomatillos.
  • Chamoy – A delicious sweet syrup with ancho chilies that is amazing drizzled on fruit and more.
  • Peachy Mango Salsa – a fruity salsa that is so good scooped with tortilla chips.
  • Corn and Tomato Salsa – I really enjoy the addition of corn in my homemade salsa.
