I love coffee. While I normally have coffee black, there are times I really enjoy a fancy dessert coffee. My absolute favourite is this Irish coffee.
Adding a little bit of a liquor to the coffee and topping it with some whipped cream and coarse sugar, turns a regular coffee into something extra special. It is the perfect way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

While Irish coffee can be served in a standard coffee mug. There is something special about using the actual Irish coffee mugs for the hot beverage it was made for. I like to use a ratio of 1oz of Irish cream liquor for 1 cup of coffee. It is not overly strong, but for me it is the perfect balance of the creamy liquor with the coffee.
Pour freshly brewed hot coffee into the mug and stir to mix it well with the liquor. Finally, top it with the whipped cream and green sanding sugar. While the final toppings are not necessary, they really do add something special to this hot dessert beverage. Serve this drink to your guests in the fancy glass mug and they will love it.
